She never thought an unplanned pregnancy or an STD would touch her life

Karen, a patient at the Sacramento Life Center, never thought sexually transmitted disease or unplanned pregnancy would ever touch her life.

She was in a married relationship for 25 years. She and her husband were both chaste when they married.  They were business professionals with strong faith practices and deep moral roots.  They were very active in their place of worship and had raised three beautiful daughters.

Karen had a close male friend of two decades who had never been more than that.

She hadn’t imagined their friendship would ever become anything else, but temptation presented itself, and she had a sexual encounter with her longtime friend.

First came shame and sorrow when she reflected on how she had broken her vows. Then came fear of exposure, fear of pregnancy, and fear of sexually transmitted disease, and her biggest fear...

that this mistake would lead to the end of her marriage.

She deeply loved her husband and family and had no desire to end her relationship, but she didn’t know what to do to extinguish her fears or how to work on her marriage.

Karen called the Sacramento Life Center with many questions.  Confidentiality was a big concern.  Getting pregnancy testing, STD testing, and a referral for relationship counseling in a confidential, free setting was also very important to her.

Karen was helped with all of her fears and concerns.

She underwent pregnancy testing, STD testing and was given a referral for free confidential counseling.

The Sacramento Life Center was able to help Karen with some of the services she needed in addition to providing her with the tools to begin to forgive herself and to repair her relationship.
